JOY OF THE BRIDES
Kabbalah teaches us that the biannual ancient
Jewish courtship ritual known as, "the Dance of the Maidens",
were the most joyous of days.
The local maidens would dress up in magnificently adorned borrowed flowing white gowns. Their collective caring for the sensitivity of each other, reflected and enhanced the essential beauty of each potential bride. The young men who gathered, would gaze from a distance and behold whom to choose to court as his bride. These beautiful daughters of Jerusalem would tell the assemblage that the mercy, modesty, and benevolence reflected in this ritual, are what accord the collective soul of Israel its unique lineage. The cities and streets reverberated with sounds of immense joy, happiness, gladness, jubilation, cheer, delight, love, friendship, harmony, and fellowship.
